2010 BMX North Island Titles
23 - 24 October 2010, BMX Rotorua, Te Ngae Road
Rotorua BMX Club is the venue for this year's North Island Titles being
held over Labour Weekend with top class racing 23rd and 24th October.
This competition is the second largest on the BMXNZ race calendar but
what sets this meet apart, is the annual Trans Tasman Mighty 11 and
Senior Test Team Challenges. Also UCI Olympic qualification rounds are
now gearing up and Rotorua will be hosting 2 rounds.
We are expecting 700-800 riders from Whangarei to Southland and a strong international contingent, mainly from Australia.
UCI Olympic Qualifying Rounds
UCI
Classic Event (Class 4) is the only round of this level being held in
NZ in the coming race season. There are four events throughout the
coming season being held in our international region, two in Australia,
one in South Africa and our event. This event is likely to attract a
number of Australian riders and we can anticipate riders from Japan,
perhaps China and a Hong Kong rider all seeking Olympic qualification
points.
UCI International Event (Class 5) is a more common
event with a number of these held in our international region annually.
The Class 4 points are higher than the Class 5 but with both at our
North Island Titles the riders will be able to compete in two
international events during the same weekend. A bonus for those
traveling and a draw card for NZ!
For women, the attraction of
being able to race against World Champion Sarah Walker is a huge and
this meet is on her home track!
